Mesotherapy at home The FOCUS-CIT from Environ ® is a small instrument in the form of a seal from which very fine needles protrude with a length of 0.2 mm. Ideal for treating smaller areas and for travel. The layer of the epidermis is the main obstructor that prevents the penetration of substances. In fact, only a small amount of active ingredients can reach the deep layers of the skin and exert their effects. Since the horny layer has a lipoid structure, fat-soluble ingredients like vitamin A can penetrate better than water-soluble ingredients like vitamin C (ascorbic acid). When the horny layer was discovered to be a major barrier, methods for penetrating substances through this barrier were studied. Research has shown that micro-needles that puncture the horny layer allow the number of large molecules that can penetrate through the skin to be multiplied by approximately 10,000. Therefore, a system was sought that was capable of performing micro-punctures in the horny layer of the skin without damaging the deeper layers. Since there are no nerves in the superficial layer of the epidermis, this layer can be punctured without causing pain. Dr. Fernandes designed an instrument, the Cosmetic Roll-Cit, which was able to securely puncture the horny layer, introduced the design in 1997.
